Whether you’re running a small company, managing a team, or just got caught up in the daily grind – organizing and planning is an essential part of your life.
I have a system that could help you with managing your tasks better while providing you with clarity of what to do.
The Kanban name comes from two Japanese words, “Kan” 看 meaning sign, and “Ban” 板 meaning a board. The Kanban system was developed by the Japanese and it is how they out manufactured the rest of the globe.
In 2009, the first web-based applications to manage projects and business processes with the Kanban method emerged.
So how do you implement the Kanban system?
It only takes a few simple rules to improve how you work and manage tasks.
Step 1: Visualize your workflow
You can visualize the workflow by breaking down the process into steps and tracking the flow of work going through them on a Kanban Board. Kanban Boards present the status of the current work to the entire team.
Step 2: Limit Work in Progress tasks
It’s not good to have lots of tasks that are a work in progress. You can ensure that the tasks are flowing from start to finish.
Step 3: Manage the flow
You can manage the flow by identifying problems and bottlenecks.
Step 4: Make your standard operating procedures clear to the team
You need to ensure that your SOPs are clear and known to everyone so you can reduce misunderstandings.
Step 5: Recognize opportunities for improvement
You can make improvements by creating solutions to the identified problems and bottlenecks.
